Best New Music: Slip Into Some Deliciously Dark Electronica From Baths

Chillwave beatmaker, Will Wiesenfeld a.k.a. Baths, releases two tracks, Miasma Sky and Ironworks, from upcoming album, Cerulean, ahead of May 28th release.

The glitchy yet expansive, Ironworks, is a beautifully constructed track with the lyrical verbosity, vocal acrobatics and subtle sexuality of Wild Beasts or Alt-J, ‘Through Victorian doorways, in tempestuous foreplays’.

Miasma Sky is musically is cast in a lighter shade with its rolling stomp and synth spikes but maintains a lyrical darkness that is suggested by the title of the both the track and the upcoming album. Wiesenfelds falsetto seems to ponder suicide, Tall rock shelf, are you maybe here the help me hurt myself? Miasma Sky would you swallow me alive?’. The overall result of the disparity between the music and the lyrics makes for some enchantingly dark yet accessible electronica. Looking forward to the album release.
