A man who has repeatedly told people that he is one of Die Antwoord’s biggest fans has today claimed that he might some day eventually get around to giving their music a listen at some point.
Jason O’ Neill has been claiming to like the South African duo for the last three years despite never actually having listened to any of their music or seen them perform live.
“I just got into them cause everyone else seemed to think they were into them,” claimed Jason. “That’s a reason to be into music, right?”
Studies show that Die Antwoord are one of the top bands that people claim to like in order to seem edgy and cool to their mates but that most of the people making that claim will never actually sit down and listen to their music.
“Today I’m going to change all that,” said Jason. “I’ve lined up the video on Youtube, once it loads and I have my cup of tea and I Skype my mate Paul in Thailand then I’m defo going to listen to at least half the track and see what they’re all about.”
“I heard their videos are weird, they’ve got a progressive stance on race and disability and so hopefully by liking them people can transfer those qualities onto me,” he continued. “I’ve liked them on Facebook and telegraphed my interest in them so hopefully people think I’m edgy and cool now.”
Other bands that people are claiming to like to appear cool to their mates include Joy Division, Amon Tobin and anything that’s ever been released on Ninja Tune.
