Technics have unveiled their most DJ friendly turntable ever: the SL-1210DJ which boasts the ability to tweet, throw strops, scream at room service and do all of your drugs.
The SL-1210DJ joins the rest of the classic 1210 range and while it lays claim to all the usual features such as a reliable direct drive and adjustable rotation speed, it can also sit in the back of a taxi and sulk at its tour manager for periods of up to 8 hours before it needs a drink or a fag.
The tone arm has been strengthened, a second separate earth has been added to the outer casing of the deck to prevent feedback, and the unit can now fling itself out of its own hotel room window should the need arise.
Michiko Ogawa, Director of Technics at Panasonic said: “We wanted to finally create a turntable that catered exclusively to the DJ rather than just to high-end audiophiles, and so we felt it was important we took the burden off the DJ and allowed the deck to carry out the majority of the DJ’s tasks.”
“And so at any time during a track, you can program the deck to carry out any of the extra on-board functions, such as banging the tour manager’s bird, throwing up down the back of the DJ box, and even some advanced track cueing functions.”
Technics have released just 25 of these test units in its pre-launch phase, however, all of these units have since gone missing, with one unit found sitting in a stranger’s kitchen in the early hours on this morning talking about Star Wars, while the other 24 units remain MIA.
