The world’s clumsiest DJ has reportedly tripped up over a pair of wireless headphones he was wearing on his head and knocked himself unconscious.
Having recently made the switch to wireless, following a wire related accident that saw the DJ break both of his legs, Spencer Franklin, a.k.a. DJ Spence, was rushed to hospital after his latest tumble but was later discharged with a clean bill of health.
“If there’s anyone who can trip up over something they’ve got on their own head, it’s Spence,” claimed Andy Parker, a close friend of the DJ. “Probably Brian Harvey too actually, the two of them are definitely out there in their own league when it comes to that self-destructive kind of shit, the only difference is Spence is clumsy, while Brian is just plain stupid.”
“Spence is the only DJ I know of who plays breakbeat, not because that’s the genre he wants to play, because he’s actually broken the beat,” continued Parker. “His sets are literally full of drops, not the actual musical type, just him dropping stuff, pints, records, mixers, decks, pretty much whatever he can get his hands on he’s going to drop, including the odd pill, that’s when he takes clumsiness to the next level.”
According to DJ Spence, he’s not a naturally clumsy person, people just tend to leave stuff in places around him where they get in his way or are easily knocked over.
“People say I’m the clumsiest DJ in the world but that’s not true,” he told us over a coffee, which he was wearing down the front of his shirt. “Take that wireless headphones incident for example, that wasn’t me being clumsy, it was just bad luck, I was interacting with the crowd and somehow I got my foot tangled up with my head and went over, it could have happened to anyone.”
“I really think people calling me clumsy is holding me back,” he continued while accidentally poking himself in the eye as he tried to scratch his nose. “I’m finding it really hard to get booked because I have a reputation for breaking things, I even offer to bring my own equipment, when it’s not being repaired, but they always just give me some crap about insurance and say no. I’ll never get my breakthrough at this rate.”
Unconfirmed rumours suggest that DJ Spence did get his breakthrough the following weekend, after falling through a ceiling while DJing at a loft party.
