Dutch DJ Ferry Corsten has surprised fans and friends alike by announcing plans to put his music career on hiatus in order to fulfill a lifelong ambition of becoming a stand up comedian.
The DJ, not particularly known for his sense of humour, has claimed that he has loved comedy from an early age naming such comedians as Carrot Top, Kevin James and Dane Cook as inspirations.
“Those guys are at the top of their games, I want to be a comedy superstar like them,” enthused Corsten. “Ever since I was a child I’ve always had people laughing at me so being laughed at by people on a stage won’t be much of a change for me.”
“I’ve enlisted the help of Michael McIntyre to help me learn some of his stand up skills such as the ability to point out the obvious, have floppy hair, appeal to houswives and to prance around aimlessly onstage. He’s been a big help.”
Ferry says that his material will draw upon his experiences of being a world famous trance DJ. “A lot of the show is based around funny stories or jokes that I’ve heard or experienced over the years. I have a hilarious bit about jungle music that goes ‘Why did the lion get lost?…….Because the jungle is quite a large place,” laughed Corsten.
