Armin Van Buuren and EDM super company SFX Entertainment have today announced plans for the world’s first ever stay at home virtual music festival. The Dutch maestro was recently nominated for eleven IMDA awards and it now seems that he would like to add a nomination for best festival to his impressive tally.
The festival which is simply named House Music will feature some of the biggest names in EDM including Wunderground favourites Hardwell, David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Steve Aoki and will only be available online. The footage for the imaginary festival will be filmed on location in Mexico City, as according to Facebook this is where most EDM DJ’s imaginary fans are located.
Armin van Buuren explained the unique set up of the festival earlier today, “The idea is to bring you all of the big name EDM superstars you would find at a festival in the comfort of your own home. By removing all of the dangers and fun associated with outdoor festivals we’re creating an experience that everyone can enjoy, even children and old people.”
“When you buy a ticket you’ll receive a unique code that will give you full access to the festival,” explained van Buuren. “The line up is going to have all of the cheeseballs, sell outs and charlatans from the DJ Mag Top 100, it’s pretty much a who’s who of the EDM world.”
“The format will be just like any other commercial EDM festival,” claimed the Dutch producer. “We’ll have DJs playing pre-recorded sets across a number of rooms at different times throughout the day, you’ll only be able to access one DJ at a time and each room has a capacity so if you’re not quick you’ll miss out. Just like real life,” he added.
“We’re hoping to sell about two million tickets for the festival, which will take place next January, at around fifty dollars each,” continued van Buuren, pictured above pointing in the direction his bank balance is set to go after today’s announcement. “So it will be cheaper than a normal festival and will help to save some money for our fans because at the end of the day fan’s money is all we really care about.”
“Each ticket will also come with a limited edition festival goodie bag which will include a glow stick, some kandi jewelry, novelty sunglasses and your very own sachet of Steve Aoki cake mix, to help you have the complete EDM experience.”
