The next artist we’re paying homage to on our newest feature Artist Of The Week is the south German veteran of deep house. Henrik Schwarz has been producing his own tracks since 1992 and DJing before that, spinning hip-hop, jazz, rare groove and Detroit techno in local clubs.
Initially creating music using a modest array of primitive drum machines and synths, his skills quickly progressed alongside the improving technology and by 1998, he was using his first laptop as an integral part of his DJ sets. After spending some time working as a graphic designer, he founded his own label SUNDAY-MUSIC after he released his first vinyl Supravision EP on Moodmusic Records.
His track Marvin from this EP garnered him a a massive amount of attention and even got airplay from leading British DJ Giles Peterson. He went from strength to strength off the back of his next few releases and over the last few years has become one of the most requested live acts in the world. He is also the man behind the Schwarzonator – a software programme designed to help producers with chord and scale progressions.
Henrik has released tracks bridging the gap between jazz, techno and soul and has had some massive remixes of artists like James Brown, Omar ft. Stevie Wonder, Jazznova and The Detroit Experiment….He’s one of those artists that has crossed the board with universal appeal to DJs across genres and thats why we’re awarding him the coveted Artist Of The Week.
