Breaking Bad star RJ Mitte’s first DJ gig was halted a mere 5 minutes into proceedings after police raided the event after being tipped off to the presence of crystal meth in the venue.
Police arrested 5 people on drug dealing charges and made 17 further arrests in a Los Angeles nightclub that promoters have described as “almost half full”.
The event was said to be crawling with people selling the drug synonymous with hit show Breaking Bad according to witnesses.
“I had to leave pretty much straight after I got there. Everyone there was either posing for a picture with someone in the same Breaking Bad T-shirt as them or trying to sell meth,” claimed one witness. “I got offered meth 17 times and that was just in the queue. Besides, the warm up DJ was some extra from The Walking Dead or else he was ketted off his head, either way his set was shit.”
Police say they did not receive a tip off that crystal meth would be prevalent at the venue, but insisted that Los Angeles people are “predictably stupid”.
Mitte, who opened his set with an EDM remix of the Breaking Bad theme tune, was unsurprisingly disappointed by the events that took place. “I can’t believe it, my first time and it couldn’t have gone any worse. I had just pressed sync and was about to bring in my second track and suddenly the music cut off,” explains Mitte.
On whether it was going well, Mitte added, “I think it was going pretty well, there were some cheers in the 4th drop of my opening song. Everyone looked like they were having a great time although to be honest that might have been the crystal meth.”
The actor, famous for portraying Walt Jr., says the experience has not put him off pursuing his new career as a DJ and hopes to be booked again “some time in the next few months hopefully”.
