Ireland’s UFC hero Conor McGregor has announced that he will be making his debut DJ appearance in one of Dublin’s biggest nightclubs this coming weekend.
McGregor will take to the decks at the newly refurbished Opium nightclub this Friday 17 November, where he will be joined by the internationally renowned duo Blonde.
Unlike most of his public appearances, McGregor will be forced to play second fiddle to Blonde, who headline the show alongside some of the other finest talents Dublin has to offer.
“Who or what the fuck are Blonde?” McGregor responded earlier when asked about the upcoming gig. “Let’s get one thing straight, yeah. When the big dog comes to town, it’s the McGregor show. You get me? If the Blonde lads think it’s gonna go down any differently just because we’re in a nightclub, I’ll see them in the lane out the back for a straightener.”
“Sure, Blonde might have had three top ten singles and 120 million Spotify plays, but I knocked the absolute bollox out of Jose Aldo in twelve seconds.,” continued the UFC Lightweight Champion. “So, how long do you think it’ll take me to convince them that I’m the headline act on Friday night? I’d say about two seconds.”
“I’m gonna give the crowd in Opium something they’ve never seen before,” claimed the west Dublin native. “It’s my own musical genre. I call it ‘aggressive house’, it’s a lot like progressive house only it comes with a lot more trash talking and squaring up. The brand new dance floor in that club is gonna look like a UFC weigh in by the time I’m finished with it.”
So far, Blonde have yet to respond to McGregor’s comments, although, it is believed they have been taking grappling advice from Michael Bisping ahead of this weekend’s performance.
Rumours that McGregor was preparing a bid to buy Opium nightclub have been rubbished after the fighter-turned-DJ’s manager confirmed that, for a change, he will just be there to take part with no intentions of taking over.
