A young American girl who documents every aspect of her life on Instagram has somehow managed to create a daily story that was longer than the day itself.
The popular social media site allows users to create a daily story consisting of short videos and pictures taken sporadically throughout the day, this story can then be viewed as one continuous video for the remainder of the day by friends and followers.
Nancy Krakowsky, a nineteen-year-old barista, has taken Instagram to the next level and is now using the app to make a daily twenty four hour documentary of her life. On Wednesday of this week, Nancy remarkably made a daily story that lasted for twenty-four hours and forty-two minutes, despite there only being twenty-four hours in each day.
Wunderground caught up with Nancy earlier, “I honestly don’t know how I did it, I have three phones all connected to the same Insta account, so I can take photos myself while I’m Instagramming or looking at other people’s Instagram, maybe there was some crossover and I gained an extra forty minutes, or something.”
“It’s really important for me to document my life because I think it’s totally necessary for everyone to see how great I am,” she continued while holding a phone in each hand to find her perfect angle. “People love to know exactly what I’m doing all the time so I feel like it’s my duty to completely fill my story with what I’m doing and what I’m thinking.”
Karkowsky’s daily stories encompass pressing daily issues, such as making decisions on outfits, gossiping about boys, deciding which piece of fruit goes best with her acrylic nails and whether she should wear her hair up or down, and also documents the more mundane parts of her day, such as sleeping, trips to the bathroom and her part-time job in Starbucks.
“When I’m bored I’ll usually just talk about current affairs,” continued the self-titled Queen of Instagram. “Like I do a politics section where I’ll totally decide who’s better between the Republicans and the Democrats by looking at who has the best hair between Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton.”
Physicist Ian Holmes has described Ms. Karkowsky’s Instagram stories as “a freak phenomenon of space and time” and also “mind-numbingly boring”.
“There’s just no explaining how this girl has managed to squeeze an extra forty-two minutes into the day,” revealed Holmes. “I’d love to be able to investigate it further but there’s just no watching it, I stuck it on earlier but after thirty seconds I felt like gouging my eyes out so I had to turn it off.”
Unconfirmed reports suggest that X Files star David Duchovny has taken a keen interest in the daily story, particularly the bits where Ms. Karkowsky sleeps, showers and uses the toilet, and he is now considering investigating the video as his X Files character, Fox Mulder, on a full-time basis
