Organisers of Portugal’s premier electronic music festival, Festival Forte, have announced that King Arthur is set to come back from the dead for an exclusive four-hour gabber set at this year’s festival.
Festival Forte will be held in the eleventh century Castle of MONTEMOR-O-VELHO on 24, 25 & 26 August and will play host to some of the world’s most well respected electronic artists.
“We’ve got a huge line-up coming your way this year,” claimed Festival Forte spokesperson Nina Almeida. “Not only have we got some of the biggest names in techno and house, people like Oscar Mulero, Danny Daze, DVS1 and Jeff Mills, but we’ve also booked one of the biggest names in European folklore, King Arthur, who’s going to be playing a four-hour gabber set.”
Almeida claimed King Arthur was given the headline slot on the closing night of this year’s festival after he removed a problematic headphone jack from a mixer in Festival Forte’s office earlier this year.
“Those headphones had been stuck in that mixer for almost six months,” she continued. “Everyone in the office had tried to pull them out but they weren’t going anywhere, it was like they were glued in. As a joke, someone had said that whoever gets them out could have the closing set at the festival and, out of nowhere, King Arthur’s ghost appeared and pulled them straight out, it was mental, if I hadn’t have been there I never would have believed it happened.”
According to Merlin, King Arthur’s tour manager, the gabber set will be Arthur’s first public appearance in over one thousand five hundred years and will really test the King’s ability to read a crowd.
“Arthur was the dog’s bollocks at playing to a crowd back in the sixth century,” revealed Merlin, “but times, and people, change so it’ll be really interesting to see if he can still do it like he used to. To be honest with you, he never had any intentions of coming back until the whole pulling the headphones out of the mixer incident.”
“He just loves pulling things out,” he told us. “He did it with Excalibur, now he’s done it with the headphones, the only thing he didn’t do it with was his wife, they had about fourteen kids.”
Sources within Festival Forte have revealed that King Arthur has asked for a number of rather unusual items on his rider, they include; a fully roasted wild boar, fourteen barrels of porter, a personal lute player and a VHS player with the complete collection of Only Fools and Horses.
