A local DJ is reportedly 87% more confident than he has any right to be, it has emerged.
Self-confessed deep house maestro Alex Smith, from Stoke Newington, who regularly spins as a support act for several club nights in his city, was apparently observed acting all confident as if his being a DJ is something to be proud of.
“I saw him the other day, sitting in a booth in the club, talking to girls as if he’s as attractive as them,” claimed one witness who says that Alex formerly only had a normal level of confidence but was much sounder. “Now that he thinks he’s a big deal he’s not afraid to express his inner dickhead by making outlandish sartorial choices, talking to people like he’s better than them because he plays records in sequence and bringing every conversation around to gigs he’s playing.”
“Before he became a DJ/promoter Alex was a normal guy, he didn’t have any garishly visible neck tattoos, talked about stuff other than the latest Ten Walls release and was able to maintain a conversation that wasn’t centred entirely around himself,” claimed Simon, a former friend of Alex’s. “Since he’s gotten some notice as a DJ he’s ended friendships, only hangs around with other DJ/producers and shows manners to people who can further his career.”
“He used to have a normal level of self doubt but unfortunately because people are fawning all over him like he’s a big deal his ego is about 87% bigger than it should be,” continued Simon. “I’m a bit worried that he actually believes that being a local DJ is something to base your entire self confidence on.”
“I actually don’t even really like him anymore, I’m only mates with him because he’ll get me guestlist and will always know where the good parties are,” concluded Simon. “If you ask me he’s turned into a bit of a prat, eventually you hope that when his DJ career inevitably goes nowhere he’ll have pulled his head out of his own arse and rejoin the real world without doing anything too dickish.”
