A small percentage of Facebook users were left totally underwhelmed today after a local promoter’s “huge announcement” actually turned out to be quite small.
Peter Rummidge, owner of Leicester’s last Drum and Bass club night, Rumm and Bass, had apparently been alluding to a huge announcement, that was set to be a game changer, for the last three weeks.
“I’m mates with the lad on Facebook but I don’t really know him,” claimed part time drum and bass fan Miles Wilkinson. “I went to a couple of his drum and bass nights a couple of years ago but there’s not much of a scene here in Leicester so they actually turned out to be a bit empty, and shite.”
“He’s been going on about this huge announcement and how the game is going to change in Leicester and the town’s not going to know what hit it for fucking weeks now,” continued Wilkinson. “I’ve been wracking my brain thinking what could this lad be on about. What has he got to offer that could possibly have that kind of impact?”
“At first I thought he’s probably just bigging himself up but the Facebook statuses just kept coming, almost on a daily basis,” revealed Wilkinson. “He was all ‘big news coming soon’, ‘huge announcement any day now’ and ‘keep your eyes here for huge game changer’ after a while you start to believe the hype, I really thought he was opening a new club, bringing Carl Cox over for New years Eve or something massive.”
“Turns out the stupid prick bought a new mixer,” scoffed Wilkinson with a wry smile. “A fucking second hand DJM800, what a fucking game changer that is, I’ve a spare one under my bed for fuck’s sake. He’s been announcing it every week while he’s been saving up to buy the thing. What a fucking waster.”
According to reports, Mr Rummidge is believed to have booked his first international act since 2010, Polish drum and bass DJ Wojciech, who actually moved to Leicester in 2013 and lives four doors up from Rummidge’s mum.
