Madchester Acid House Ended By Roy Keane Tackle

A new book has claimed that the late 80s early 90s acid house explosion in Manchester was actually ended by an especially harsh tackle from former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane.

“For years people though drugs in the Hacienda, a musical implosion or the scene fizzling out caused the Manchester acid house scene to die,” claimed witness to the horrific tackle that ended acid house’s short career. “But all those previous claims are just plain wrong, the scene was left crippled after angry United enforcer Roy Keane went in high and broke both knees of acid house with a two footed tackle just after signing for United in 1993.”

The book claims that the incident took place outside the notorious Hacienda nightclub when Roy Keane, seen her singing the sustained high note from the Whitney Houston hit I Will Always Love You into a referee’s face, was wrongly accused of faking an injury which prompted the fiery Irishman to see red and go in two footed in a tackle that closed down the nightclub and brought an end to the entire Madchester sub culture.

“It was the nastiest challenge I’ve ever seen,” claimed one witness. “He slid in two footed and then stood over acid house saying ‘will you twist my melon will you?’ before walking off seething.”

Reports suggest that acid house initially went off for treatment but it was obvious to everyone that it was a career ending tackle and the acid house movement was over forever.

“It was fucked after that,” concluded the source. “After that people starting getting into other genres, move to London and dress differently. The club, the people associated with the club and the entire movement was just crestfallen and has never really scaled the heights it had previously.”
