A survey conducted by EDM apologists, DJ Mag, has revealed that most of the people who claim to be fans of performing monkey, Steve Aoki, are only doing so “ironically.”
The survey revealed that a whopping 80% of people who had liked Steve on Facebook were only doing it because they thought it was “ironic and funny” to be a fan of someone so irredeemable and unintentionally hilarious, while the other 20% of people surveyed who claimed to be fans were deemed to be of below par intelligence and mostly liked Steve for “the flashing lights, simple melodies and promise of cake.”
“You know when you watch an absolute car crash of a film that’s so undeniably bad that it’s actually good?” asked one person polled. “That’s what appeals to people about Steve Aoki, you sort of can’t believe that he’s doing the things he’s doing. Watching a Steve Aoki show is like going to the cinema to see any of the Fast & Furious movies. Flashy and crass yet unintentionally hilarious and entertaining.”
“When I first came across videos of him performing online I thought that what I was seeing was a Nickelodeon EDM special or something,” claimed another. “When I found out that this guy was actually being for real and it wasn’t a kids program or a parody sketch I immediately pissed myself with laughter. I just find him extremely funny, bounding around on stage like an excited competition winner, throwing cakes and bouncing on trampolines.”
“The fact that he’s approaching it with blind sincerity and the belief that what he’s doing constitutes club music is what makes it hilarious,” he added.
When the “fans” were asked if it was possible for Steve to reclaim some credibility so that he would no longer be an embarrassing joke in their eyes, most responded negatively.
“I don’t think he could ever claw back credibility,” admitted one man. “You can’t just remove what he’s done in the past from the collective consciousness no matter how many purported ‘deep house’ sets he does. It’s like casting Pauly Shore as the lead in a Steven Spielberg directed biopic of George Washington, doomed to abject failure.”

tee heee
what the heck is with this rubbish of an article, its just a rude columnist pretty much calling the people who enjoy Steve’s music idiots. who ever made the “Survey” is just jealous of this artist who did remarkably well with the skills they learnt in life and used them to make wonderful music and bring people together.its like calming people who like Skrillex, Deadmau5, Afrojack, pretty much and EDM artist are as dumb, like the person said (below par intelligence and mostly liked Steve for “the flashing lights, simple melodies and promise of cake.”). Reading this article was a waste of time and a total disappointment to me and many other fans of EDM.
I hope you enjoyed your cake 🙂
