Thirty four year old Kevin Jones, from Wigan, England, has reached “legendary” status with a select group of wedding guests after rugby tackling his girlfriend during the bouquet throw.
The six foot three, sixteen stone male, who actually plays rugby for local amateur side Wigan Spartans, is believed to have “completely annihilated” his girlfriend, Tanya, who was on the cusp of catching the “throw of doom”.
“It was hilarious and brutal,” laughed an onlooker. “The groom is a rugby boy through and through so there have been lots of references to the game all day. When the bouquet throw was about to happen somebody suggested it was like a line-out. Tanya rose the highest and got the flowers but, within a split second of landing, Kev went straight through her. She literally crumbled like a stick man in a hurricane and dropped the bouquet, which was picked up by a different girl. Kev got up and all the rugby lads cheered. What a moment for the sport.”
Kevin spoke to Wunderground with regards to his actions, “I got into game mode all of a sudden” he confirmed. “I’d had about fifteen pints and thought it would be funny but, more importantly, intelligent. It was the correct thing to do as the last thing I need is people putting pressure on us to get married. She needed to be taken down. The fact she broke her arm in two places and dislocated her collarbone is, of course, unfortunate but it’s all part of the game.”
It has been confirmed that Tanya is on the road to recovery and wants to speak to Kevin about what he thinks is decent wedding etiquette.
