Music Festival Circuit Continue “Same Bands For More Money” Initiative

The summer festival circuit today announced the continuation of carting out the same “tired old acts you’ve probably seen about times before for a slight increase in admission price” initiative that has worked so successfully over the last number of years.

Many summer festivals are beginning to announce their lineups, most of whom contain appearances by formerly ground breaking bands who are past their sell by date, guaranteed festival ever presents like The Flaming Lips and Faithless, as well as the now ubiquitous “big buzz up and coming act” who are expected to play in “a tent far too small for them”.

A summer festival spokesperson, who refused to be named, said that the formula of booking underwhelming “safe” bands is one that has been extremely successful and isn’t likely to change any time soon.

“There’s actually no economic sense in trying to be innovative and booking bands or acts that people will genuinely have excitements for,” he said, “it’s just easier to book the same acts who always draw a crowd who aren’t a risk for us like Nile Rodgers & Chic, who are expected to play every festival known to man this summer.”

Most punters offered grumbling disappointment couple with the declaration that they’ll probably “go anyway because everyone else is” under the hope that they “might add someone good last minute”.

Other less cynical punters have been known to get excited by the lineups so far released this summer with one gushing, “Oh my God, 2ManyDJ’s are playing, again! Brilliant, I’ve only seen them 15 times.”

While another festival goer, in his 40s, says that he is excited by some of the lineups he has seen and can’t wait to see The Pet Shop Boys again and is still crossing his fingers that “some big past it band who shouldn’t by any rights get reunite, do reunite and play at it, that would be amazing”.

Tell us what you think of the lineup announcements made so far in the comments below!
