A local hospital has confirmed that a teenager is critically ill from withdrawal symptoms after her parents confiscated her iPhone.
Sixteen year old Chloe Jukes is believed to have had an ambulance called to her house in the early hours of the morning, and was rushed to A&E where paramedics confirmed she only had a twenty percent chance of surviving; referring to her mother and father as “irresponsible” and “a hazard to all children”.
“I don’t know what goes through the mind of some parents” said a very annoyed Doctor Jake Gilroy. “To take her phone away at midnight is such a silly thing to do, especially in this day and age. It is common knowledge that a teenage girl’s’ survival is based on having everything important to her, at her fingertips, twenty four seven. To snatch that away from poor Chloe must have been a terrible shock to her system; and we believe this sparked a frenzied panic attack, leading to to most severe case of withdrawal symptoms I have ever seen.”
Wunderground managed to speak with Chloe’s mum, Jo, regarding the incident, “It was gone midnight and I wanted to get some sleep, but all I could hear was her big gob,” said an annoyed Jo. “She was sending stories on SnapChat, to her friends who she would be seeing at school in the morning. It was pointless, so to teach her a lesson I thought I would take the phone away from her for the night. I was obviously going to return it in the morning and didn’t realise this would happen.”
“At the end of the day, parents need to look out for their children, not put them in danger” continued Doctor Gilroy. “Perhaps next time, her mother will delete an app, ask her to stop taking selfies, or tell her to come off of Instagram for a while. You know, go in a bit slower. To take away all social media, and anything else which prevents a sixteen year old girl functioning, in one hit, was far too drastic. I hope this is a lesson to all parents.”
