Dutch trance star, Tiesto, has lashed out at Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJ poll claiming that the popular poll is “fixed.”
“This is an absolute disgrace,” bemoaned the DJ. “I can’t believe I didn’t feature in the list. I can accept not winning the thing but not even placing? How does that even happen? The answer is it doesn’t, it’s a fix. That’s the only explanation that makes sense.”
When it was pointed out to Tiesto that the poll is a public vote and decided for by the people he claimed that the voters were “a pack of clueless mongs,” before insisting that he is “one of the highest paid DJs on the planet so obviously that means I must be one of the best.”
“How is anyone expected to place if it’s based on people’s opinions? he added. “Who do I need to fuck and/or pay to appear in the damned thing? Just tell me who, cause I’ll do it. Do they want me to stop playing Adagio For Strings? Because I will. I’ll even do a Deep House set, anything to get the recognition my price tag deserves.”
Tiesto, pictured in happier times with former lover, Bono, questioned the credibility of the poll by pointing out that there was very little crossover between the DJ Mag Top 100 poll and the Resident Advisor one.
“With so few people appearing in both polls it’s obvious that the RA poll isn’t credible,” he claimed. “I play at gigs where people paid $40,000 just for the privilege of a private table, does that mean nothing to these people?”
Tiesto concluded his diatribe against RA by insisting that he’ll dedicate the next year of his life to placing on the poll in 2014 by playing “more expensive gigs and earning as much money as I possibly can. Then they’ll have to vote for me. And if they don’t then I suppose I can just use the money to buy my way onto the list – like the DJ Mag poll.”
