Todd Terje Regrets Allowing Competition Winner Name New Album “It’s Album Time”
Norwegian house and disco producer Todd Terje has spoken today about his regret in letting a Twitter competition winner provide the name for his upcoming album after the winner chose the title “It’s Album Time“.
“Well it was anarchy, as you can imagine any public forum is,” explained Todd. “Once you give people free reign to start suggesting things or interacting with someone famous, however mildly like myself, then you’re going to invariably have about 95% arseholes, 4% nutjobs and the final 1% of people who will incessantly draw comparisons between whatever inane thing it is that you’re doing and Nazism.”
Mr. Terje claims he mistakenly thought it would be interesting to give his followers the opportunity of naming the album and held a Twitter Q&A to host a competition for the best title.
“Within seconds we knew it was a bad idea,” he continued, “but we couldn’t pull the plug until we got something passable. It’s Album Time turned out to be the least shit of a shit bunch of shit suggestions made by shits. Which, as you can probably imagine, was pretty shit.”
“It’s like a kind of mutation of the horribly mind numbing It’s Chico Time uttered by the reprehensible X Factor reject Chico from a few years ago before he, justifiably left his life of being an X-Factor nothing to just being a normal nothing,” continued Mr. Terje. “And when Chico uttered his terrible ‘It’s Chico Time’ hack-phrase he did it with a knowingly glib grimace and even then it wasn’t salvageable.”
“But,” he added, “like a bad case of herpes or capitalism, I’m stuck with it now.”
Some of the other suggestions for the album included This Is A Fucking Album, Gentleman’s Moustache Party and Inspector Norse x10 which Mr. Terje claims was “the only real rival to It’s Album Time and is still better than my original title I’ve Made An Album Listen To It Why Not?”
Other things that have been named in this way include the movie Snakes On A Plane, boxer briefs, dragonflies and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple.
It’s Album Time is expected for release sometime in April, which is presumably, album time.
