An aspiring traktor DJ who has not yet mastered the art of beatmatching has claimed to be a “vinyl only” DJ after purchasing a vinyl timecode kit for his bedroom set up.
Seventeen year old Jordan Mulligan, is believed to have made the claims after becoming involved in a heated Facebook debate about the pros and cons of vinyl in today’s DJ market.
“I just think using vinyl makes you seem way more old school,” explained Jordan, who was born in 1998. “That’s why I went out and bought these awesome timecode vinyls for my home studio. This way I can get all the bonuses of using digital music while still being able to look down my nose at people who don’t use vinyl. It’s a win win situation.”
“After using the timecodes for a couple of minutes I’m pretty sure that I’ll always be a vinyl only DJ from here on in,” he continued. “At least this way I get to be cool and practical at the same time. A bit like a pair of those shoes that have a bottle opener on their sole or a politician who’s actually a really good stand up comedian.”
“After trying it out, I really can’t believe that there are so many DJs out there who don’t play vinyl,” claimed the rather annoying teenager. “They must know about it, I mean it’s not like they haven’t seen films, from the olden days, where the DJs are playing vinyl. It might look a bit awkward and stupid but lots of people say it’s way better than digital so I’m happy enough to take their word for it.”
Unconfirmed reports for within Mr. Mulligan’s bedroom indicate that the DJ has gone back to using Traktor without his timecode vinyls after they were smashed to smithereens by one of his classmates during a row over who out of Nick Warren and Deadmau5 played better progressive house.
