German deep house duo, Tube & Berger, have released a statement today claiming that they are not breaking up despite reports of “increasing sexual tension” between the two performers placing strain on the duo’s musical partnership.
Arndt Rörig, one half of the popular duo, claimed that a recent incident which saw the two long term friends kiss for the first time has “upped the stake” on the sexual tension that has been building between the friends for some time.
“When you spend so much time with someone in a professional and social capacity then affection is going to grow,” explained Arndt. “That affection grows into a strong emotional bond and sometimes that bond can become sexual.”
Arndt claimed that himself and his Tube & Berger partner, Marco Vidovic, have been trying to fight their feelings for the last number of months so as not to endanger the group by “doing a Fleetwood Mac”, but that after finally kissing for the first time keeping their friendship platonic is going to be “harder than ever”.
“You’ve seen Brokeback Mountain?” asked Marco. “That’s definitely what’s going to happen and I think we just need to be prepared for that.”
Marco claims that over the last few months he’s begun to notice an increasing urge to “hold Arndt’s hand when walking along the street” and that sometimes when they’re outlining creative projects or working in the studio that he’ll “reach over and brush his hair out of his face” without thinking.
“It’s most difficult when we’re playing together,” said Arndt, taking up the story, “it’s such close quarters and we’re engaged in this intimate musical dance that sometimes feelings can get the better of you. I’m trying to focus on the mixing, but often as not I’m trying to accidentally touch his hand or ignoring the crowd completely and getting lost in his eyes.”
Arndt says that they have arranged to have a band meeting to discuss new projects and how they’re going to deal with their blossoming feelings, but suspects that things will turn romantic and that he even feels like they could “go all the way together”.
“If it happens, it happens,” he offered excitedly. “We already make sweet music together, now we can just do it in a euphemistic sense – by fucking each other.”
“A part of me knows that it’s dangerous to become involved with a co-worker, but a bigger, hornier part of me doesn’t care,” admitted Arndt. “I’m pretty sure that Marco feels the same way.”
“I’ve noticed recently that instead of writing slick dance floor monsters,” concluded Arndt, “that he has instead been composing riffle ditties with ‘love’ in the title and, in one of his notepads that I found, instead of there being any work or ideas there was just page after page of his signature with my surname instead of his own, as well as love hearts with our initials inside.”
