German Techno duo, Pan-Pot, have shocked their fans today with news that they are to abandon electronic music and concentrate on touring with the band they originally played in together whilst in university.
The duo, made up of Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix, have been playing in an experimental rock band called, Küche Musik, since they met in Berlin’s SAE Institute, where they both studied sound production and design. Küche Musik, which translates as Kitchen Music, were originally formed to record a concept album, based entirely on the noises produced by everyday kitchen utensils, as a final year project.
Tassilo explains the decision to reform the band, “To be honest we’ve been a bit disillusioned with the whole electronic music scene for a while now,” he explained. “The emergence of EDM has really tarnished the vibe for us and we’re just looking to distance ourselves from the entire industry until the EDM fad blows over,” continued Mr. Ippenberger AKA Pot.
“We feel that this is the perfect time to continue our work with Küche Musik,” added Mr. Benedix. “Pan-Pot has been great but it was only ever meant to be a side project, the band was always going to reform at some point and we feel that this is the perfect time to release some fresh, new, kitchen based, experimental rock,” said the producer otherwise known as Pan.
Küche Musik, who are said to have been working on an album since March of this year, hope to do a full European tour starting next May, which will incorporating the full European festival circuit. The band is completed by Colander(Matthias Schmidt) and Bread Knife(Fritz Ackermann).
Küche Musik are currently in the process of recruiting a new key board player after original band member, Dish(Markus Adler), ran away with his high school sweetheart, Spoon.
