Best New Music: Lusine Makes Poppiest Record Yet

Seattle based producer, Lusine, aka Jeff McIlwain, spurts another release of ambient techno all over your waiting ears. This is Lusine’s first full length LP since 2009’s A Certain Distance and this record is arguably even more accessible than its predecessor. The productions are confident, steady and varied, moving from electronic dream pop on Get The Message to the deep house inflections of Lucky and the driving pulse and scattered synth-squeaks of Another Tomorrow. The standout track for me is the album closer February with its driving beat, oscillating drone and strangled vocal samples being the closest the album comes to outright hands in the air madgeouvitness.
