Former Berlin based DJ, Dax J has been announced as a surprise headliner for this summer’s Hideout Festival in Croatia.
Mr J, who now spends his time moving between safe houses after upsetting Islamic extremist’s by playing the Call to Prayer during a techno set in a Tunisian nightclub, has confirmed that he will come out of hiding for the Croatian festival in June.
Wunderground spoke to the DJ earlier today, “I’m really hoping that all of this shit will have blown over by the time Hideout comes around,” he told us. “I feel like a right dingbat after the whole Tunisia thing, I thought it would be cool but I was wrong, I really shouldn’t mess with things I don’t understand, you’d think I would have learned that from the time I electrocuted myself while trying to fix my CDJs.”
“I’m literally going to be in hiding between now and Hideout,” continued Dax. “It’s kind of ironic that after spending three months in hideouts I’ll be coming out of hiding at Hideout festival, it’s a bit like an astronaut DJ playing a gig in Space after spending a few months on the International Space Center or a DJ who lives in the sewers playing a warm up set for Calvin Harris.”
According to festival organisers, Dax J’s inclusion as a headliner will help to give this year’s festival a “more authentic feel”.
“This will be our seventh year as Hideout Festival but, to be honest with you, I don’t think anyone has ever hidden out at it,” explained the Hideout employee. “In fact, we actually have the opposite with the festival, instead of people coming here to hide we’ve got people coming and bragging about being here by posting about it all over social media.”
“At this stage, the whole vibe just seems a bit fake,” he continued. “That’s why, as soon as we heard that Dax had gone into hiding, we had to offer him a headline slot, this is definitely going to be the most hide-outy Hideout Festival yet.”
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Dax J could be hiding out in Dublin’s Bunker nightclub where he will have a three-month residency under the name Jax D, more on this as we get it.
