American heavy metal band Slayer have confirmed they will be playing at a number of Icelands as part of the European leg of their farewell tour.
The infamous four piece will appear at five different store locations across the UK and Ireland, as well as a one off performance in Reykjavik, Iceland, at this year’s Secret Solstice festival.
Iceland CEO Blain Chills spoke to Wunderground earlier, “We’re delighted to announce that Slayer will be performing at five of our stores this summer,’ he confirmed. “We would also like to welcome them as official brand ambassadors for Iceland, filling the void left in all of our lives when Kerry Katona started shopping in ASDA.”
According to lead vocalist Tom Araya, Slayer will be fulfilling a lifelong ambition when they take to the stage at Secret Solstice, held between 21 -24 June.
“We’ve always wanted to visit Iceland,” claimed Araya. “We definitely consider ourselves Vikings, based on our long hair, beards and fondness of fucking groupies and drinking beer. So, I guess it’s going to feel like we’re coming home for our last ever gig. What better way than twenty four hours of daylight, in our spiritual home, to finally call it a day.”
“We’re also getting to share the line up with guys like Stormzy, Clean Bandit, Gucci Mane and Bonnie Tyler,” revealed the singer. “Which is a welcome change from sharing it with other old men from the eighties with bad hair and jeans way too tight for their age.”
“We only wanted to do one European date but our dumbass agent somehow managed to get us five gigs in some god awful convenience store. Now, we have to go to England too, which is a bit of a pain in the ass, but they’ve promised us a lifetime supply of spring rolls and sausage rolls so it’s not all bad.”
