Artist Of The Week: Bonobo

We’ve paid tribute to this man before but we can now cement our firm admiration for Bonobo through our latest Wunderground feature –  Artist Of The Week.  Bonobo, aka Simon Green has been supplying us with his his multi-faceted blend of warm electronic goodness since his first release under this moniker in 1999, when he came out with Terrapin on the Tru Thoughts compilation When Shapes Join Together. Since then he’s become an essential cog in the wheel of electronic music and was christened “one of the new downtempo pioneers”. This was dubbed after he released his debut Animal Magic in 2000, where he got to showcase a masterful album, self-produced and self-instrumented.  Since then, he’s surpassed all initial expectations with remix albums on Tru Thoughts and four more boundary pushing albums on the ever eminent label Ninja Tune, expanding his musical pallet with influences from afrobeat to the Middle East.  Aside from his studio productions, he puts on some unreal live performances, and as you can see from this visit to the Boiler Room he’s a flippin Maestro in the booth! Bonobo…we salute you!
