Local DJ Only Friends With People Who Can Further His Career

DJ Local Nightclub Promoter Wunderground Asshole

If you can’t further the career of up and coming local Manchester DJ Brandon Groves then chances are he won’t make any attempt to become friends with you.

Moving only in circles where the people can help propel his career forward, Brandon reportedly “has very little time or patience” for anyone not somehow connected to the clubbing scene and “is not above just being straight-up rude to people” who can’t help him get gigs.

According to sources close to Brandon the 28-year-old DJ, who doesn’t really have his own sound preferring instead to play whatever’s popular, has been becoming “more and more of a self involved, arrogant prick” since his career began to take off in the city.

“I used to be really good friends with him, but when he decided to become a DJ and had some small success in support slots he suddenly changed his entire personality almost over night to that of a social magpie who will cling forcefully to anybody he feels is cool or can help his career,” confided Brandon’s former friend Alex, who says that as a result of him not being “a promoter, booker, fellow DJ or popular scenester” the two haven’t spoken in 6 months.

“Brandon used to be equally friendly with everyone,” he continued. “No matter who you were he’d find time to talk to you, make you feel welcome and have a laugh. But now, unless you’re somehow connected to the local scene, he’ll look right through you. Often halfway through a conversation he’ll spot someone over your shoulder and leave to go speak to them.”

Other former friends have witnessed this behaviour and have said that it’s a regular occurrence with up and coming DJs letting their egos get the better of them and “becoming peacocking, selfish dickbags to everyone but a select few people who could help them get their name out there”.

People have described the transformation that comes over Brandon when he encounters someone who can further his career as “Hulk-like, one minute he’s being an aloof assbag to someone’s unconnected friend and then the next he’s verbally sucking the balls off some senior DJ like a smiling, sycophantic cockmuncher.”

“I was never friendly with Brandon, he always struck me as a bit of a tart,” claimed local promoter Sam Ryan. “But now that I run my own club night he couldn’t be nicer to me, always liking my statuses on Facebook, looking me in the eye and laughing at my stupid jokes. It’s like he’s flirting with me to improve his career.”

Brandon has so far declined to comment on the accusations that he is only nice to people who can help him get gigs because there was nothing to be gained for his career by talking to us.
